Salt & Pepper Tofu


  • 4 tbsp plain flour

  • 3 - 4 tbsp GD Salt & Pepper seasoning

  • 500g TFK Medium Firm tofu

  • 600ml light flavoured oil, for frying

  • 2 spring onions, thinly sliced

  • 1 red chilli, sliced


  • First, mix together the flour and salt & pepper seasoning.

  • Then cut the tofu into bite sized pieces and coat generously with the seasoned flour.

  • Heat the oil in a wok or deep frying pan on medium–high heat. Drop in the tofu in batches and fry for approx. 3 minutes, stirring gently, until just brown. Remove and drain on a paper towel.

  • Give the oil a few seconds to return to heat and then continue with the another batch.

  • When the tofu is all done, throw the spring onion and chilli pieces in and fry them for approx. 2 minutes, until cripsy. Remove and drain on paper towel.

  • To serve, transfer to a dish and top with the fried chilli and spring onion.

Feel free to substitute the tofu for meat products such as chicken, prawns and squid.
